Kaboodle's Fundraising Events.
Informative talk organised by supporters of charity www.classroomsintheclouds.org
kaboodle's pop-up shop selling fairly traded gifts made in Nepal.
Many thanks to trustees Mike & Sarah Hagen for your informative talk about the charity, held at the Mayfair centre in Church Stretton. Local supporters were keen to find out how the charity came into being and what it had planned for the future.
Sarah took us down memory lane with pictures of Nepal and told people who had not visited the country a little about daily life there.
Mike told us how founder David Woods went on a trek with Sherpa Dawa and returned home determined to give the people a better future.
He explained that building schools not only helps with education but by using trades people from the area it boosts the local economy too.
Getting the whole community involved in the project promotes a greater sense of pride in the schools and gives a better understanding of their induvidual needs.
Supporting the teachers and helping train them is vital to long term success and reports from the school governors are sent back on a regular basis.
Feedback recieved back from the event was very positive and hope this will lead to greater support locally and induvidual fundraising.
Monies raised from Tickets, Books, Raffle and Nepali gift sales totalling £327.10 were presented on the night and a further £36.45 was collected in the charity boxes!!
